Thanks for this helpful blog! I need to (theoretically) install a different OS because I've had problems with Vista crashing and hanging (sporadic). I have only a few other things installed on it (MS Office, Photoshop, and Firefox). I'm not sure if the recovery partition has been compromised because I've already reinstalled from there twice and I get the same hanging and crashing.

I have two addtional questions for you:
-If you were to (theoretically) install XP...would you need some sort of table PC software to enable the touchscreen?
-From the factory the touchsmarts come with HP Update software that automatically searches for HP updates and installs them. Is this application available for public download?

heey man.. did what you said.. i tried to comment before but i dont know the site didn't seem to respond or something like that.. anyways my problem is that i bought an hp touchsmart iq512me and i was happy with it , but you know how VISTA is with it's unstable system.. it was crashing in time and it began to be slow.. so i formatted my harddrive not knowing that it would erase the hp smart center , i mean at the moment i forgot about all that just focusing how to get windows seven on the hp touchsmart ! well i have windows seven now but what i do not have is my smart center hp touchsmart ! :( i did what you said .. it worked it installed it but it when i open the touch smart software it would open , but i cant touch or click on anything with or without the mouse , then it would minimize itself and would become as 3/4 of the screen like its apart of the desktop.. it also gave me an error something microsoft net framework.. something like that , man u helped alot but any help from you would be great ? waiting to hear from you

I did install as per the above instructions but the problem is in the touchsmart software i cant manually link all the other programs like music, photos and videos to the touchsmart software. How did u work out that. Pls do reply....im struggling to find a solution in windows 7....Other thing Im using final RTM version of Windows 7 Professional and its just fantastic in touchsmart iq530uk...very smooth and very snappy.

I would assume this still needs to be done on a computer that originaly had touchsmart when delivered. Because none of us that bought any other touch capable machienes from HP (Tx2110us) would benefit from theese features. well I guess we could....Theoreticaly.

man thank you soooooo much!! i have tried to install it like 100000000 times
i lost that thing too just cause i updated it to windows 7 and the people form hp kept telling me to download the update but it kept giving me the same error.... they are no help
